Editorial policy
These are the rules we work by, written down so you can hold us to them.
Checking
- No story sent by a reader is published on its own. An editor reads it and checks it before it is printed.
- A published story sent by a reader is marked “Sent by a reader”.
- Before we print an accusation against anyone, we try to get their side. If we can't, we say so.
Who we protect
- We never print the names, photos or addresses of survivors of rape and sexual abuse.
- We don't print a child's identity unless it is for the child's own good and a guardian agrees.
- We never tell anyone who sent us a story without that person's permission.
When we get it wrong
We fix the mistake in the story itself and add a “Correction” note at the end saying what changed. If you spot a mistake, tell us.
Opinion and news
Writing in the Editorial section is Prantik News's own opinion. We don't pretend to be neutral: we are on the side of working people. But we never make up facts, and we keep opinion and news apart.
