Indebted farmer commits suicide in Sirajganj's Tarash

A farmer named Md. Shahidul Islam (35) has committed suicide by ingesting gas tablets in Tarash, Sirajganj. On Thursday (June 26) afternoon, he consumed toxic gas tablets at his own home. The deceased Shahidul Islam was the son of Md. Abul Kalam from Nadosaidpur Patgari Para village under Magura Binod union of Tarash upazila. Local Union Parishad member Md. Rafiqul Islam confirmed the matter. According to local sources, Shahidul Islam had been suffering from physical illness and was burdened with debt for a long time.

He became mentally broken due to this. It is suspected that he chose the path of suicide out of this. Tarash Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Ziaur Rahman stated that upon receiving the news, police went to the scene, recovered the body, and sent it to the morgue of Sirajganj 250-bed Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib Hospital for autopsy.
