Student attacked by police while trying to stand beside teachers

Sima and Tanjia, members of 'Bikkhubdho Nari Samaj', were attacked by police while trying to express solidarity after witnessing a police attack during teachers' protests in Shahbag. When they went to rescue the injured teachers, they faced police assault. Sima was arrested following the incident. After the incident, Chhatra Dal leaders Mansura and Meghla rushed to the police station and secured Sima's release. On the other hand, leaders of Bangladesh Chhatra Federation took the injured to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) for treatment.

Arrangements were made to send them home after providing primary treatment to the injured. At this time, leaders of Chhatra Federation jointly said, "Whether the teachers' movement is justified can be discussed later. However, we will not accept police repression in any movement. Resistance will be built against oppression." Earlier today (February 12) in the morning, protesters blocked the road at Shahbag intersection.

Protesters are demonstrating to protest the non-appointment of 6,531 recommended candidates from the third phase of the 2023 primary assistant teacher recruitment examination. They claimed that their joining has been halted due to legal complexities and demanded immediate arrangements for them to join their jobs. Police used batons, water cannons, and sound grenades to disperse them.
