2 detained over attack on couple in Uttara

Police said that around 9:00 pm last night, a reckless motorcycle hit an autorickshaw on Road 9 of Sector 7 in Uttara. When the rickshaw puller and a couple nearby protested, the motorcycle riders became angry and issued threats. Afterwards, they called more people over the phone. Within a few moments, several more youths arrived there and attacked the couple with sharp weapons. Uttara residents stated that every evening, organized adolescent gang members are involved in mugging at various locations in Uttara and on the Dhaka-Mymensingh highway. They deliberately create trouble with people and snatch mobile phones and wallets by instilling fear with weapons.
