Just as the water of the Nile is not blue, Jamaat-e-Islami is not Islam either: Maulana Bhashani

Maulana Bhashani was an uncompromising fighter in the struggle against imperialism and communalism, and the undisputed leader of the oppressed masses. In today's Bangladesh, when the politics of division is being practiced by using religion as a political weapon, there is a severe lack of resolute, progressive, and fearless leadership like Bhashani's. Bhashani played a pioneering role throughout his life in movements against fundamentalism, communalism, and imperialism. The seed of non-communal consciousness that he sowed in his politics was a courageous step toward secular politics.

Maulana Bhashani believed that Jamaat-e-Islami is not actually Islam—it is a breeding ground for imperialists who misuse religion and turn communalism into a weapon. He deeply believed that the politics of Jamaat is contrary to the core ideals of Islam and is merely an instrument for creating division among the people.
