Involvement of Anti-Discrimination Student Movement leader in Bogura national anthem event

The involvement of a group of youths under the banner of 'Fascism Resistance Forum' in the attack on the national anthem performance event in Bogura has already appeared in the media. However, another important aspect of the incident has remained hidden so far—at least one of those present during the attack was Noor Mohammad Jobayer, an important leader of the Bogura district committee of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement.

His pictures can also be seen with influential National Citizen Party Joint Member Secretary Gazi Salahuddin Tanvir, who is accused of corruption worth Tk 400 crore, lobbying business, and many other allegations. However, on April 21, NCP temporarily expelled Joint Member Secretary Gazi Salahuddin Tanvir. On Thursday, January 30, 2025, a 335-member convening committee of the Bogura district was announced through a press release signed by the then central convener Hasnat Abdullah and member secretary Arif Sohel for six months.

In this committee, Noor Mohammad Jobayer was nominated as one of the 26 joint conveners. Today, on the day of the incident, several cultural organizations organized a national anthem performance at the Muktamancha in Bogura's Satmatha. Udichi Shilpigoshthi was one of the organizers. Around 5 PM, a group of people under the banner of 'Fascism Resistance Forum' gathered there and tried to snatch the microphone and foil the event. Later, when an attempt was made to perform the national anthem anew at the Shaheed Minar, the same group carried out an attack there as well.

The organizers alleged that this incident took place in the presence of the police. Udichi's organizing secretary sustained a serious injury to his eye in the attack. It was alleged that someone's mobile phone was snatched for recording a video of this attack. The presence and involvement of the Bogura branch leader of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement in this incident gives this attack a more political and organizational shape.
