Today is June 30—the birth anniversary of Ahmed Sofa, one of the most rebellious voices, thoughtful essayists, and writers of Bengali literature. He was uncompromising and visionary on the questions of national identity, intellect, and self-recognition. He was an immovable conscience of Bengali literature, culture, and politics—outside of convention, but at the center of conscience. From 'Bangali Musolmaner Mon' to 'Buddhibrittir Notun Binash'—in every writing, he questioned the time, awakened the reader, and revealed the inherent truth of history in the pure language of courage.

Anti-establishment was the language of his grievance, and writing was the complete expression of his social sense of responsibility. A figure who must be understood, rather than avoided, to forge our path. Deep respects to Ahmed Sofa.
