Young worker killed, two burnt in plastic factory fire in Keraniganj

A young worker named Sakib (18) was killed and two others were burnt in a fire at a toy factory named SS Toy Industries in the Narikelbagh area of Keraniganj, Dhaka. The fire broke out on the eighth floor of the eight-storey building on Monday afternoon, which the Fire Service brought under control after about an hour and a half of efforts.

Fire Service officials said that the factory lacked necessary fire safety measures and documentation. The connection of these shortcomings to the worker's death and the liability of the factory authorities need to be determined through investigation. One critically burnt person has been taken to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery.
