Hunger strike in Gazipur for workers' unpaid wages

Laid-off workers of Unique Design factory in Gazipur have started a hunger strike at the factory gate demanding their dues and fair wages. This movement is being led by two workers, including Sheikh Raihan, joint convenor of the workers and uprising student organization. They stated that the struggle for workers' fair wages and dignity continues and they are determined to achieve their demands.

It is worth noting that there is an allegation against the owner of Unique Design factory that before Ramadan, he locked the factory gate without paying the workers' salaries and dues. The workers have fallen into extreme uncertainty due to this incident. Local workers alleged that the owner's side has been dilly-dallying regarding salaries and bonuses for a long time. They repeatedly gave assurances but did not implement them. The workers stated that they lost their jobs without any prior notice, which is dangerous for their livelihood.

A victim worker said, "We have no other way to maintain our families. The owner has put us on the street!"
